The following details the "fall-back" or "plan B" should we not decide to eat fish each night on Basswood lake.
Each fish meal will include fried fish using a variety of coatings or batters and seperate and unique accompanying side dishes
for each fish meal. What makes the Backpacker Meals a great fall-back meal is that their light weight and long shelf
life makes it no big deal if we haul them all right back home again. Also after an exhausting day, the BP meals
only require you to boil water, pour it in the bags and let it stand for 10-15 minutes - super easy and quick!
*Notice the asteris on this whole category! That was easier than putting a
seperate one on all breakfasts and dinners. HOWEVER, lunches are NOT included because
we may be going in several different directions during the day and each person/family should pack whatever cold lunch (trail
lunch) they want. Also, if there is a specific powdered drink (sports/energy drink) you want above and beyond regular
(cheap) powdered instant tea, apple juice, orange juice or fruit Kool-aid (etc). My experience has been that lunches
can be light or non-existant due to the size and quality of the other meals. We have never come
back with an empty food bag and a couple times we could have easily doubled the length of our trip on the
food amount we carried. We brought back almost as much food as we ate.
